ABC reports that White House advance team FAKED the applause
by John in DC - 6/28/2005 08:34:00 PM

ABC's Terry Moran just reported that the only time Bush got applause was in the middle of his speech when a White House advance team member started clapping all on their own in order to cajole the soldiers into clapping, which they dutifully did.

Why not, the had already faked that there was any news value to the speech. Dr. Goebbels will not be amused.

Yea no wonder, he speech sucked. Not as much as the other ones, but it wasn't that good.

The speech sucked, dumbyass sucks, the fake applause sucks, everything* sucks now. Can we please petition Congress for a do-over? This whole "giving the country away to the avaricious philistines" thing just isn't working.

*The Dingo does not suck. =)

Considering that they held the speech in front of a military crowd with explicit orders not to applaud, I have to wonder what the heck this article is on about...

Mitch:
Funny, that bit about orders not to applaud didn't appear until 24 hours after the stories questioning the lack of applause appeared. Wonder why?

Latency effect? Explanation usually comes after the demand for explanation.

The report came during the speech. The excuse came 24 hours later. Guess they had to make sure the 'truth' would be reported by all concerned. By the way, my nephew was in the audience. He's with the 82nd Airborne. They were told to 'rest easy' which is not the same as being told you can't applaud. It means follow your officers lead.
